Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich

Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 fresh Italian sandwich rolls or Kaiser buns
- 1 white onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 large green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 lb. rib eye steak, shaved or thinly sliced
- 1/3 lb. thinly sliced white American cheese or Provolone OR 4 oz. melted cheese whiz
Directions
- Preheat oven to 200ºF. Warm the sandwich rolls or buns.1
- Heat a heavy skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
- When hot, add the 3 tablespoons of oil, onions and peppers and cook, stirring frequently, until caramelized, about 5 minutes.
- Add the garlic, salt and pepper and cook for another 30 seconds. Push off to the side of skillet or griddle.
- Add the meat to the hot pan and cook, stirring with the back of 2 metal spatulas, until almost no longer pink, about 2 minutes.
- Mix rib eye with the vegetables. Top with cheese and melt.
- Spoon the meat mixture onto warm buns and serve immediately.
