Red Cabbage With Apples

Ingredients

  • 2 tart apples, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 medium head of red cabbage, coarsely shredded
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. Cook and stir apples in butter in a dutch oven over medium heat for 5 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  2. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  3. Cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, about 35-40 minutes.
