Spiced Apple Margarita

A lovely fall and holiday twist on a margarita
Ingredients
- 2 Ounces Reposado Tequila (See note below)
- 4 Ounces Apple Juice
- 1 Ounce Lime Juice
- 1 TBSP (1/2 oz) Sugar Syrup
- Dash of Cinnamon for Drink
- 1/4 TSP Cinnamon
- 1/4 TSP Sugar
- 1/4 TSP Fine Sea Salt
Directions
- Mix 1/4 Tsp each of sugar, cinnamon and salt for glass. Run lime wedge around rim and dip.
- Sugar syrup: bring 1/2 cup water to a boil. turn off heat and stir in 1/2 cup granulated sugar until dissolved. Cool/Refrigerate up to 1 week.
- Add Apple juice, Lime Juice, Tequila, Sugar syrup and dash of cinnamon to a shaker with ice. Shake for 20 seconds.
- Pour into glass and garnish with Star of Anise (optional)
Notes
Reposado is a rested tequila that has been aged in oak barrels for a whisky like flavor. You can use silver tequila for this recipe and then optionally add 1/2-1 tsp of whisky for flavor.
Star of Anise is a spice commonly used in Asian recipes such as Pho broth. It has a flavor sort of like cloves meet black licorice but will not flavor the drink. It's just pretty.
