No fry onion rings

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup low fat buttermilk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup plain dried bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 large sweet onions, cut crosswise into 1/2'' rounds and separated into 32 rings

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450ºF Spray two large baking sheets with nonstick spray
  2. Put the lour in a large zip close plastic bag.
  3. Whisk together the buttermilk, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl or pie plate
  4. Combine the bread crumbs and Old Bay seasoning in a large shallow bowl
  5. Add the onion rings, a few at a time, to the flour and shake to coat
  6. Dip the rings, one at a time, in the buttermilk mixture, then coat with the bread crumbs
  7. Transfer the rings as they are coated to the baking sheet
  8. Bake until golden and crispy, about 20 minutes
