The Pittsburgh Steelers have done a simple restructure of star pass rusher Alex Highsmith’s deal, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Wednesday. Pittsburgh created more than $7 million in cap space by restructuring Highsmith’s salary.
According to Ian Rapoport, the Steelers restructured OLB Alex Highsmith‘s contract and created $7 million in cap space. Pittsburgh was getting low on cap space and this gives them a little more breathing room. Highsmith, 26, was a two-year starter at UNC-Charlotte and earned third-team All-American honors in 2019.
The Steelers currently own the No. 20 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and could use it in several ways, with needs at center, wide receiver, offensive tackle and cornerback.
