The Washington Nationals had been teeing off on Gerrit Cole and looked to add to their 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning, but then Carlos Correa made an incredible diving catch to put an end to a rough inning. Howie Kendrick laced a line drive off Cole with Juan Soto on second base. Had the ball gotten through to the outfield, Soto was going to score.
