Any eligible player left off of the 40-man roster could be lost to next month’s draft.

Teams have until 8 p.m. ET tonight to make decisions on their Rule 5 eligible players. If the organization does not want to risk losing them to next month’s draft, then those players have to be added to the 40-man roster. If the club is willing to take the chance, then they can leave them unprotected and risk losing them a few weeks...
