Guadalajara Guacamole

Guacamole AKA ''Guac'' is an avocado-based dip or salad first created by the Aztecs in what is now Mexico. In addition to its use in modern Mexican cuisine, it has also become part of American cuisine as a dip, condiment and salad ingredient.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 table spoon minced red onion
  • 1 tablespoon minced cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons diced tomato
  • 1/2 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced
  • pinch of salt and pepper

Directions

  1. In a large bowl place the scooped avocado pulp and lime juice, toss to coat.
  2. Drain, and reserve the lime juice, after all of the avocados have been coated.
  3. Using a potato masher add the salt, pepper, and cayenne and mash.
  4. Then, fold in the onions, jalapeno, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of the reserved lime juice.
  6. Let sit at room temperature for 1 hour and then serve.
