‘Greedy’, ‘ungrateful’ Golovkin, longtime trainer go separate ways

After many years together, it seems that DAZN money has come between Gennady Golovkin and Abel Sanchez.

It is often said that the more money you have, the more problems that come with it. In the case of Gennady Golovkin, the almighty buck has apparently come between him and longtime trainer Abel Sanchez.

On social media earlier this afternoon, Golovkin announced that he and Sanchez had gone their separate ways. He painted it as a professional parting of company and was complimentary of...

Marlon Moraes believes T.J. Dillashaw suspension is not long enough

Marlon Moraes is getting a shot at the vacant UFC bantamweight title, this after T.J. Dillashaw relinquished his belt due to a two-year suspension from USADA. Dillashaw had tested positive for the banned substance EPO in the lead up to his fight with Flyweight champ Henry Cejudo.

Although some fighters claim that they always knew TJ Dillashaw was using drugs, Marlon Moraes was still still shocked and disappointed by the news.

“We are all disappointed,” Moraes said when speaking...

UFC rankings: Modafferi back in top five at women’s flyweight

UFC Russia was pretty irrelevant rankings-wise.

UFC Russia was one of the most irrelevant shows the promotion has put on in a while. Over half of the fights finished before the final horn, but there weren’t a lot of ranked fighters competing and due to the early start time, there weren’t a lot of people watching either.

Thus, there are not a lot of changes in the UFC rankings this week. Shamil Abdurakhimov and Roxy Modafferi are the only people to move up multiple spots, and even an...

Glover Teixeira content being 'Shogun' Rua's friend, no need to fight 'Brazilian idol'

After getting a first-round finish of Karl Roberson at UFC on ESPN+ 1, Glover Teixeira put in a request: He wanted to fight fellow countryman Mauricio Rua, hopefully in Brazil.

Considering Teixeira (28-7 MMA, 11-5 UFC) is now set to meet Ion Cutelaba (14-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) in Ft. Lauderdale on the main card of this Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 8, it’s obvious he didn’t get any part of his wish. Teixeira, however, isn’t exactly losing sleep over the circumstances.

“They called me, and I’m...

Chris Weidman: ‘I think I’m a nightmare matchup’ for Israel Adesanya

“I think I’m a nightmare matchup for him if you look on paper, just based on the paper with my wrestling and my jiu-jitsu.”

Everyone wants a piece of newly-crowned UFC interim middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

The latest fighter to call out ‘The Last Stylebender’ is former UFC 185-pound kingpin Chris Weidman, who thinks he would be a ‘nightmare’ matchup for the New Zealander.

Speaking to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani in a recent interview Weidman, who used to think Adesanya was...

How ex-champ Carla Esparza is handling unfamiliar territory before UFC Ft. Lauderdale

Gallery Photos: Carla Esparza through the years

PLANTATION, Fla. – Former UFC champion Carla Esparza has experienced a lot in her decorated career. For Saturday’s UFC on ESPN+ 8 matchup with Virna Jandiroba, though, she walks on unfamiliar ground in more ways than one.

The most glaring of Esparza’s new dealings ahead of her strawweight encounter with Jandiroba (14-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is the fact she enters the matchup on a two-fight skid for the first time in her professional...

More reasons to watch Bellator 220

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) isn’t the only show streaming live Saturday night as Bellator 220 will go head to head with the MMA juggernaut.

While Bellator has a habit of filling up the undercard with local fighters to help move ticket sales, that often times affects the quality of fights the fans get. There’s no denying the strength of the five-fight main card that will stream live via DAZN. However, the prelims fall a bit short of what one would expect from a card of...

Finally 'clicking,' Dhiego Lima plans to finish 'winner in life' Court McGee at UFC on ESPN+ 8

Dhiego Lima realized the greatest moment of his UFC career the last time he stepped inside the octagon. He said he’s hoping to build off that at UFC on ESPN+ 8.

After going on a three-fight losing skid in pro competition, Lima (13-7 MMA, 2-5 UFC) made good on what may have been his final chance at UFC glory in December. He scored a brutal 97-second knockout of Chad Laprise at UFC 231, giving him his first finish in seven bouts with the organization.

Poirier on Khabib saying he’s going to maul him: We’re not here to play tennis

“That means nothing saying ‘I’m going to maul him’. You’re supposed to. I expect the same from him when I say I’m going to hurt him, I expect the same that he’s going to try to hurt me and take me out. That’s what fighting is.”

Dustin Poirier knows a thing or two about maulings, having battered the likes of Eddie Alvarez, Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway enroute to winning the interim UFC lightweight title at UFC 236.

Nicco Montano releases statement on USADA suspension, hopes for summer return

After it was revealed Tuesday that Nicco Montano has been on the shelf due to a suspension from the United States Anti-Doping Agency, the former UFC flyweight champion provided her own update on the situation.

It was announced by the USADA that Montano (4-2) is currently serving a six-month suspension dating back to Nov. 15, 2018, as a result of the 30-year-old testing positive for ostarine in an out-of-competition sample last October. She will be eligible to compete again on May 15 and she...
