Crisp Wonton

Ingredients

  • FOR FILLING:
  • 1/2 lb. lean ground pork
  • 2 teaspoons green onion, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cooking sherry
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 package wonton wrappers
  • Oil for frying

Directions

  1. Combine all the filling ingredients together.
  2. Place 1 teaspoon of filling into wrappers.
  3. Fold wrapper into triangle or rectangular shape.
  4. Moisten sides of wonton with water and seal by pressing sides together
  5. Fry in hot oil in a skillet until brown on both sides, or use a deep fryer set to 375ºF
  6. Remove wontons from oil to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any extra oil

Notes

Substitute ground beef for the pork. You can also add chopped mushrooms, if desired.
