Why can’t I ever write about a sweep-securing win?
Well, how gross did that become, huh? The game got away from the Sox fast. It WAS good vibes at first! We were up 3-0! Wilyer was staying on fire! The bullpen was doing great! And then defensive errors on top of a regressing Greg Weissert (Get it? ReGregssion?) and a not-good-(tonight) Jordan Hicks (Get it??? Hicksups???) doomed the game completely. At least we did get the series win, but man, when the...
The Boston Red Sox have taken the first two games of their three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds. They won game one on Monday night, 13-6. The Red Sox led 2-1 when last night’s game was postponed, and today they completed the win, taking the middle game 5-3 behind a clutch double from Trevor Story.

...Sweep?
Who’s ready for more baseball today??? The Sox have already secured a series win against the Reds, thanks to a dominant offensive performance in Game 1 (thank Wilyer) and managing to get the win in Game 2 after it was suspended and then resumed (again, thank Wilyer!). With the way the offense has been rolling, if the starting pitching and bullpen can click, a sweep may very well be in the cards. A sweep would also put the Sox back at .500, so...

The Sox take the series against the Reds
There’s something romantic about watching a ballgame in a half-empty ballpark on a summer afternoon. The game feels less like a big time event and more like something to do in the city if you’re nearby — a pastime, in other words, which is what it’s supposed to be. I wouldn’t want to watch my team play in that environment every day (or even more than just a couple times a season, really) but...
Wilyer Abreu and Trevor Story drove in runs in the eighth inning to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 5-3 win over the visiting Cincinnati Reds in a suspended game that was completed on Wednesday afternoon.

The Red Sox lead 2-1 going into the top of the fourth inning of last night’s suspended game against the Reds.
The Red Sox got off to a good start last night plating a pair of runs in the first inning thanks to RBI hits from Roman Anthony and Carlos Narvaez.

And his contract could look like a bargain soon if the improvements in his 2025 plate skills stick around.
At the end of the 2023 season, during a second consecutive late-season swoon with a confusing trade deadline, fans looked to the minor leagues for some hope. At that time, the “Big Three” were Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer, and Kyle Teel, who were all at least a year away. Wilyer Abreu, part of the return in the...
New York Mets starting pitcher Griffin Canning suffered a brutal blow when he went down with a season-ending ruptured left Achilles.
The Boston Red Sox and visiting Cincinnati Reds will complete their three-game interleague series with a full Wednesday of action, picking up their suspended game from Tuesday night before playing their regularly scheduled evening contest.

The Red Sox currently have a fourth inning lead, but Dick Fitts will have to wait at least one more day for the Red Sox to get a win in a game he’s pitched in.
The Red Sox and NESN did everything they could to recreate the atmosphere of the 1975 World Series tonight. From the two teams on the field, to Jahmai Webster’s snazzy outfit, to interviews with former players, and even a retro graphics package.
It’s a 1975 Red Sox kinda night at Fenway,...
Continuing rain in the Boston area suspended Tuesday's game between the Boston Red Sox and visiting Cincinnati Reds in the top of the fourth inning. The Red Sox held a 2-1 lead on the strength of a pair of first-inning runs.

Will the parade of runs from last night continue or will the bats once again turn erratic from game to game?
Dick Fitts has pitched in ten major league games so far in his young career, and aside from that one disastrous outing against the Angels a month ago when he gave up six runs in the first inning, he’s been very solid.
In fact, in the other nine games he’s appeared in, he has a 2.42 ERA in 44.2 innings of work. This includes five...
As of right now, the Boston Red Sox have three players who are locked up through at least the year 2031: Garrett Crochet, Kristian Campbell, and Ceddanne Rafaela.

News and notes from around Red Sox Nation.
By all accounts, the Red Sox have one of the game’s very best farm systems. (FanGraphs, which still counts the Roman Anthony, Kristian Campbell, and Marcelo Mayer as prospects, currently pegs the Sox as the best system in baseball, but also says the system is well above average outside of the Big Three). But the Futures Game rosters were just announced and only one Sox prospect...
The OTM staff takes stock of the weird, wild month that was June 2025 in Red Sox Nation
Well, that was a doozy. The Boston Red Sox entered June 4 games under .500 and 8.5 games behind the division-leading Yankees. They ended June 2025 2 games under .500, 7 games behind the Yankees. But the relative omnambulance of the standings doesn’t reflect the fact that June 2025 was one bat-shit insane month of Red Sox baseball. Here’s the OTM staff with their take on the month that was. (Check out...

It’s a new month
We made it, Red Sox Nation. June was a long month, but it’s finally over. We survived a West Coast road trip that coincided with a heat wave on the East Coast, two series with the Yankees, and one of the most shocking trades in the history of the team. As I write this, we’re only 2 1?2 games out of the Wild Card, which feels like a miracle. (I cannot be expected to stay up to watch the Mariners for the sake of accuracy, don’t be insane.) (Ed....

He’s not there yet, but the righty is returning to his 2021 form.
When Garrett Whitlock arrived in Boston, he caught everyone by surprise and became a key piece of the 2021 bullpen. After that, he struggled. He moved from the pen to the rotation and back to the pen, all while dealing with injuries. Healthy for the first time in several seasons, Whitlock is back in the bullpen and is starting to look like the pitcher who burst onto the scene as a Rule-5 Draft...
Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu is best known for his defense. On Monday, he carved his way into major league history with his bat.

A huge first lights the way for the boys.
The Red Sox pasted the Reds on Monday, 13-6, in a game that wasn’t even as close as the final score indicates. Let’s get to it!
Three Studs Wilyer AbreuOur dude didn’t just hit two homers; he did so in style. The first dongle was in the fifth inning, and didn’t so much leave the yard is it did NOT leave the yard, i.e., it was an inside-the-park job. The second, in the eighth, was more traditional, having jumped a...
