Jaguars plummet in NFL Power Rankings

To the surprise of no one, the Jacksonville Jaguars plummeted in SB Nation’s Week 7 2018 NFL Power Rankings. Nothing else should have been expected after the 40-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Jaguars clock in at No. 15, down eight (8!) spots from last week and unless they can make quick work of the Houston Texans, it will be tough to make their way back to the top of the power poll (not that it matters!).

Here’s what SB Nation had to say:

How about the Jaguars? One minute they’re...

Bortles an issue, but may have been doomed from start

The Jacksonville Jaguars offense has been in a state of disarray the past two weeks, and in reality for every game outside of two this season. The offense looked great against a slow New England Patriots defense, eating them up with crossing patterns, and had some explosive plays against the New York Jets, but outside of that the offense has left a lot to be desired.

A big part of that has been the play of Blake Bortles, who quite frankly hasn’t been very good outside of those two games...

Ngakoue now 6th in Jaguars history with 24.0 sacks

The Jacksonville Jaguars managed three sacks on Dak Prescott in their 40-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, but it helped propel Yannick Ngakoue higher into the franchise record books.

With two sacks on Sunday, Ngakoue is now sixth in Jaguars history with 24.0 sacks, moving just past Gary Walker, Bobby McCray, and Marcus Stroud this week.

Jaguars at early tipping point

After a 40-7 drubbing by the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars sit at 3-3 on the season in a three-way tie for first place in the AFC South and the Houston Texans on the horizon. The Jaguars are still in the driver’s seat for winning the division and making the playoffs, but with how the season has gone so far, specifically the last two weeks, they find themselves at an early cross roads.

There’s a big difference in exiting this weekend 4-3 as opposed to 3-4, especially...

Fournette could be ready for Texans

When the Jacksonville Jaguars take the field against the Houston Texans on Sunday at TIAA Bank Field, it could be without a certain running back they have been without for the past couple of weeks. Leonard Fournette seems to be inching his way back to the lineup and will be evaluated as the week goes on.

“The only thing I am sharing with you is they [Leonard Fournette and DJ Hayden] ran today and obviously it went well and we are going to see where we are at Wednesday,” Jaguars head...

Bell signed, Paul to IR

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed tight end Blake Bell to their active roster, to make room the team placed tight end Niles Paul on injured reserve. Paul injured his leg in Sunday’s 40-7 loss to the Dallas Cowboys when he was tackled in the backfield and bent backwards. It was reported as an MCL sprain for Paul, but he will be out for the season now.

Bell, 27, was originally a fourth round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in the 2015 NFL Draft and spend his first two seasons in the NFL...

Jaydon Mickens on injured reserve, Rashad Greene re-signed

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed fourth-year wide receiver Rashad Greene Sr. to the 53-man active roster. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars placed wide receiver Jaydon Mickens on the team’s reserve/injured list.

Rex Ryan rips into 'overrated' Jaguars defense, Blake Bortles and AFC South

In the span of 37 seconds, former NFL head coach Rex Ryan went to town ripping into Jacksonville’s vaunted defense, Blake Bortles and the entire AFC South. Ryan, who is now an NFL analyst for ESPN, was discussing the Jaguars on ESPN’s “Get Up” Monday morning. “First off, this defense is — they’re not a fraud, but you’re not exactly the Steel Curtain back in the day. You’ve given up 70 points. So it’s easy. We all point fingers at Blake Bortles — me especially, I can’t...

Jaguars return man Jaydon Mickens to miss four to six weeks after fracturing ankle

Jaguars return man Jaydon Mickens is expected to miss four to six weeks after fracturing his ankle against the Cowboys on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com (Twitter link). Mickens, who entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2016, joined Jacksonville’s practice squad last September but ultimately spent 10 games on the club’s active roster. While he wasn’t much of an offensive contributor (six receptions, 77 yards), Mickens was the Jaguars’ primary punt returner,...

Malik Jackson: “We got our ass kicked today”

The Jacksonville Jaguars got their asses kicked by the Dallas Cowboys yesterday. When you lose 40-7 on the road that’s the only way to describe it.

And defensive lineman Malik Jackson shares the sentiment.

When asked about the defense’s performance after the loss on Sunday, Jackson was as direct as he could be.

“We got our ass kicked today. I don’t know what else to tell you. We got our ass kicked today. We will bounce back.”

The Cowboys got 23 first downs to the Jaguars only...

Dede Westbrook defends touchdown celebration

The Jacksonville Jaguars were beaten by the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 40-7 yesterday at AT&T Stadium, not scoring a single point until the third quarter.

Down 24-0 after halftime, Blake Bortles and Dede Westbrook connected on a 34-yard touchdown and Westbrook celebrated with the help of Keelan Cole and some other receivers.

Westbrook, however, caught some flak for the celebration. Fans didn’t think a team down 24-7 late in the game should be celebrating. To his credit, Westbrook...

Fournette isn’t the savior

The Jacksonville Jaguars offense has had two good games this season, otherwise it’s been underwhelming... to be kind. The passing offense has left a lot to be desired, the run game has been up and down and the offense continuously turns the ball over. Running back Leonard Fournette has been out for the past few weeks and there’s some optimism among fans he could return on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Even if Fournette returns, he’s not the savior to the Jaguars offense and to...

Blake Bortles: Cowboys game “a waste of a day and a trip”

The Jacksonville Jaguars were dominated for the second week in a row. However, this time it was all three phases failing on the road as they fell 40-7 to the Dallas Cowboys on the road.

Nothing looked good this week. At least last week you could say the defense played a pretty good game and limited opportunities to the Kansas City Chiefs, who boasted the No. 1 offense in the NFL. This week, however, you couldn’t look anywhere without seeing failings on even fundamental levels — the...

Jerry Jones trolls Jason Garrett over fourth-down call

The Dallas Cowboys were all smiles after Sunday’s big win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, so much so that even Jerry Jones could take a friendly jab at his head coach. The Cowboys crushed the Jags 40-7 in what Ezekiel Elliott said was the most dominant win since he’s been a part of the team. Dak Prescott threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, while Elliott had 106 rushing yards and a TD. Team owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys had an “outstanding” game and even jabbed Jason...

Jaguars get put down by the Cowboys, as season reaches a tipping point

What three weeks ago was a promising season that appeared to be barreling towards a second-consecutive playoff appearance and vying for another AFC South title, has officially gone fully off the rails, following a complete ass kicking for the second consecutive week on the road, this time at the hands of what was supposed to be a feckless Dallas Cowboys team by a score of 40-7.

The Jaguars offense led by the consistently inconsistent Blake Bortles could never get anything generated, and for...
