Actually, there don’t have to be any losers
Leading up the 2025 NFL Draft, as it became clear that neither Cam Ward nor Travis Hunter was likely to be on the board when the New York Giants picked at No. 3, discussion shifted to whether the Giants would select Abdul Carter. Carter was the consensus No. 3 on most big boards and supposedly one of the few “generational” talents in this draft.
The discussion did not...

Well, yes ... sort of .. until the time comes to go all-in on Jaxson Dart
Russell Wilson may or may not still have the ability to play football at an elite level. The New York Giants quarterback, though, is undoubtedly an elite name-dropper.
During a post-practice session with media on Thursday that lasted roughly 12 minutes, Wilson managed to name-drop 25 Giants players, coaches, and staff members.
Wilson’s extensive, and impressive,...

Most Giants fans have the season opener circled
As of this writing, there’s a little over 13 weeks left until the New York Giants take the field for the first time in the 2025 regular season.
The Giants face a schedule that is, at least on paper in June, daunting. However most Giants fans seem eager to start the season.
This week we asked the Big Blue View community which of four potentially consequential games you have circled on your calendar.

Can the 2022 No. 7 overall pick win a starting job?
The New York Giants drafted Evan Neal No. 7 overall in 2022 to be their right tackle, to be a bookend anchor of their offensive line with left tackle Andrew Thomas.
That has not worked. So, after three years of poor performance and injury the Giants are moving to Plan B with Neal. They are moving him to guard to see if they can salvage some value from Neal, who turns 25 this season and is in the final year...
The mail’s here!
Matthew Mosley asks: Given that the Giants are moving Neal to guard, it got me curious about other players on the roster and potentially some versatility. What are your thoughts on trying a player like Tre Hawkins at safety. Could it work? His athleticism is off the charts and its clear his path to success as a corner in this league is limited.
Giants need depth at that position and he’s been around the system for a few years.
Ed says: Matthew, I can’t rule that out...

Do the Giants have more talent than we think?
One of the common refrains over the last couple years is that the New York Giants are at a talent disparity compared to the best teams in the NFL.
Yet year after year, the Giants are lauded for their work on draft day and consistently earn “A” grades in the immediate aftermath of the draft.
Don’t believe me? Take a stroll through memory lane to see how highly their drafts have been regarded since...

Schmitz has shown improvement, but that needs to continue
Two years into his NFL career, John Michael Schmitz of the New York Giants is considered a bottom-tier NFL starting center.
In a ranking of the starting centers for all 32 NFL teams, Pro Football Focus ranks the 2023 second-round pick No. 26.
PFF says:
Although the former second-round pick hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, he did show growth during his second season. After posting...

Robinson has been a reliable underneath target, but wants to be more
New York Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson had the best season of his career in 2024, finishing 13th in the NFL with 93 receptions. Yet, there is still an impression with Robinson that it wasn’t enough, and that perhaps we still haven’t seen Robinson’s full potential unlocked during his first three seasons.
That is because those 93 receptions only gained 699 yards, a puny 7.5...
Shane Bowen
Giants have upgraded the personnel across the defense — now Bowen has to make it all work
There was a bounce in his step and a smile on his face when New York Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen arrived at the podium on Thursday to meet with the media.
Who can blame him? Bowen has lots of new toys to play with this season. He presides over a defense that added edge defender Abdul Carter with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, along with defensive tackle Darius...
