and then there were two.....

Merry Monday, everyone!

Finally! The Participants have been chosen. The next NFL champion will be either the San Francisco 49ers or the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams won yesterday to advance. I missed the Chiefs-Titans matchup because I was out ice fishing. I did see the second game, and it was a lot of fun to watch. I wonder who will get the blame for that performance?

I don’t mind either team, which is a nice feeling. I think the 49ers will win the game. I...

He will replace Kyle Juszczyk on the roster

While the countdown to Super Bowl LIV has now started with both Conference Championship games being in the books, we can also look forward to the penultimate event of the 2019 NFL season, the Pro Bowl.

We already knew that there were three members of the Minnesota Vikings heading to Orlando, as running back Dalvin Cook, defensive end Danielle Hunter, and safety Harrison Smith were already named to the squad....

Championship Sunday Game Discussion: Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers

NFC Championship Game Discussion

Good Evening!

Today’s second game of Championship Sunday features the NFC with the Green Bay Packers traveling to Santa Clara to play the San Francisco 49ers. Kickoff is scheduled at 5:40 Central time. Last time I looked, just like the Chiefs, the 49ers were 7.5 point favorites.

My thoughts: I’m a fan of the Vikings and NFC. In my AFC game thread I wrote a few words detailing why I was pulling...

Weekend Open Thread

Good Morning!

The Conference Championship games are tomorrow, and much to my chagrin the Vikings aren’t playing, then again they didn’t deserve to. Maybe we should file a lawsuit because a game or two didn’t go our way? I’ll post threads for Sunday’s games, look for them about thirty minutes before kickoff. Meanwhile, let’s carry on with our news and links open thread full of beer recommendations, nap strategies,...

Thaddeus Moss declares for 2020 NFL Draft

Photo by Frank Jansky/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

You may have heard of his father

A little less than 22 years ago. . .yeah, that long. . .the Minnesota Vikings used the 21st pick in the 1998 NFL Draft on Marshall University wide receiver Randy Moss. Moss went on to have an outstanding NFL career, culminating with his enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.

Today, the next generation started what will hopefully be a similar path.

Vikings sign a second CFL All-Star to futures contract

And he has Vikings connections

On Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings signed a second player that was named a CFL All-Star this past season to a futures contract.

The team announced the signing of wide receiver Bralon Addison, who played last season with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and was named a CFL East All-Star in 2019. According to TSN in Canada, he also has a relationship with current Vikings’ star receiver Stefon Diggs, who he reached out to prior to...

Browns to interview Vikings assistant GM George Paton for GM job

The Browns’ GM search will include an interview will include a meeting with George Paton. The Vikings’ assistant GM will meet with the Browns this weekend, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com tweets. Paton joins Eagles executive Andrew Berry and Patriots front office staffer Monti Ossenfort as candidates. A few more names have been mentioned in this search, but the Browns’ interview itinerary has formed. In the GM mix for years, Paton would seemingly be a natural fit for a team that just hired...

Good Morning!

It’s the start of my time off service, i.e. I don’t have to work for the next seven days; think I’ll get the smoker out sometime this weekend and maybe catch the games Sunday. Mike Hughes’ neck injury is a broken vertebrae

Photo by Rob Leiter via Getty Images

Well, then, IR was the proper call

In the lead-up to the Minnesota Vikings’ playoff game on Wild Card Weekend against the New Orleans Saints, cornerback Mike Hughes was a full participant in the first practice of the week, according to the injury reports. He was theny downgraded to limited participation with a neck injury in Thursday’s practice and, curiously, placed on injured reserve on Friday. Nobody was quite sure what was happening, and with...

We step into the off-season and uncertainty

Hi kids. I’ve waited a couple days to write this, as I didn’t want the emotion of the 27-10 pantsing at the hands of the 49ers last Saturday to cloud my thoughts on the upcoming off-season. To set the table for this piece, a couple days ago I went over some tough roster decisions the Vikings have coming due when the new league year starts. The Reader’s Digest version is that the Vikings could potentially lose...

Beware the ides of January

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

The frustration from watching Saturday’s debacle is waning. I’m thankful for ice fishing, it’s how I plan to maintain my sanity during this long period of nothingness that exists between football season and baseball season. Spring training is approaching, but it’s hard to imagine whilst living here on Hoth where the air temperatures are hovering around 20 degrees below zero, with wind chills so...

It’s the two-year anniversary of the Minneapolis Miracle, so let’s watch it again

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Because it’s still awesome

Exactly two years ago today, the Minnesota Vikings pulled off one of the greatest plays in NFL history.

Trailing the New Orleans Saints by a score of 24-23 with just ten seconds left on the clock, the Vikings were facing a 3rd-and-10 from their own 39-yard line with no time outs remaining. The hope was that they could connect on a long enough pass to give Kai Forbath an opportunity at a game-winning field goal. . .while getting...

How many more days until training camp?

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Wow, this is going to be a long off-season, isn’t it? I’m still not happy about Saturday, so I’ll probably wait until next week to have something talking about the direction the team needs to take. I don’t have the mental energy, or the desire, to think about it right now. I’m ready to go ice fishing.
