Changing of the guard in the NFC North

With Green Bay’s loss to Seattle, the division now goes through Minnesota...or Chicago.

The Green Bay Packers have stood atop the NFC North/Central for the better part of the last 25 years. With back to back Hall of Fame quarterbacks in Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay has been the preseason favorite to win the division in most every season since early in the Bill Clinton Presidency, and they’ve made the post-season an incredible 19 times since 1993, winning the division 12...

Anthony Barr questionable, Adam Thielen off injury report

The Vikings may get linebacker Anthony Barr back in the lineup on Sunday night. Barr has missed the last two games due to a hamstring injury, but the bye week gave him time to heal and he returned to practice on a limited basis this week. Barr has been listed as questionable for the matchup [more]

Four Weeks in Prime Time May Determine Vikings Fate

Entering the bye-week this year, things seem a little similar to last year. Last year the Vikings were 6-2 heading into the bye week with a little momentum, but were looking at a tough slate the next five games - four of them on the road. The Rams, Falcons and Panthers were all playoff teams, the Lions had beaten the Vikings a few weeks earlier at home, and at the Redskins, where the Vikings had lost the year before, wasn’t a easy win either. But the Vikings managed to win four of...

Mike Zimmer likes what he sees in the Vikings’ offense

As the Minnesota Vikings travel to Chicago this weekend to play the Bears at Soldier Field, head coach Mike Zimmer seems comfortable about talking about his offense’s improvement moving into and out of their Week 10 bye. Watching Mike Zimmer at a short press conference at the TCO Performance Center on Wednesday, he just seemed […] Mike Zimmer likes what he sees in the Vikings’ offense - The Viking Age - The Viking Age - A Minnesota Vikings Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

FanPulse, Week 10: Confidence in the Vikings dips despite bye

Seems a bit strange, to be honest

While we saw the Minnesota Vikings’ average spot in our Power Rankings Roundup go up this week, despite a bye, confidence in the team is slightly down this week according to the results of this week’s FanPulse voting.

Despite not playing this week, our poll shows that 75% of fans of the purple are confident in the team this week. Given that the confidence level was at 80% last week, the slight drop is a bit curious, in my opinion.

Even though...

Vikings injury update: Anthony Barr returns, Adam Thielen still limited

Again, good news and bad news

We’ve got a couple of updates to the Minnesota Vikings’ injury report for you, and just like yesterday, we’ve got some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that there were only two Vikings that did not practice on Thursday. They were tight end David Morgan and safety Andrew Sendejo. That means that, for the first time in several weeks, linebacker Anthony Barr was practicing for the Vikings again. Barr has missed the past few games with a hamstring...

Dalvin Cook will have no restrictions on Sunday night

No snap limits for the running back against Chicago

For the first time since Week 2, the Minnesota Vikings are expected to have a fully operational Dalvin Cook at running back with no restrictions on how many snaps he can take, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.

Cook was healthy for the Vikings’ first two games of the season, but injured a hamstring in the Week 2 tie against the Green Bay Packers. He missed Week 3 and was on a limited number of snaps in Week 4, and then was inactive...

The one where we talk about the Seahawks and Packers

Thorsday Night Football Open Thread

Good evening and Welcome Aboard!

Standard Disclaimer: I’m not a fan of the NFL having games on Thursday which results in a short week for both teams and in my opinion increases the likelihood of injury. It’s one of the things I think the players union should negotiate to get rid of with the next CBA. In any case I’m going to keep doing these on Monday and Thursday night as long as my new job allows and/or if it’s a common opponent for the Vikings....

3 records the Vikings can break by the end of the 2018 season

With seven games remaining in the regular season, there are a few league and team records that could be broken by the Minnesota Vikings and their players this year. Sadly, the 2018 season is already halfway over for the Minnesota Vikings. Depending on how they perform in their final seven games though, the Vikings could […] 3 records the Vikings can break by the end of the 2018 season - The Viking Age - The Viking Age - A Minnesota Vikings Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Here’s the deal: Bears

It’s a big game, and the Vikings need to find a way to win it.

The Vikings head to the Carny Fun House that is Soldier Field on Sunday night, and there is a ton at stake for both teams. In recent years, it’s been rare that both the Vikes and Bears have been this good this late in the season, so there hasn’t been a matchup between these two rivals with this much at stake since...2012, maybe? That year the Vikings won their last four to go 10-6 and get to the playoffs as a wild card,...

'Full go': Vikings lift all restrictions on RB Cook

For the first time since he injured his hamstring in overtime of Minnesota's 29-29 tie at Green Bay on Sept. 16, Dalvin Cook was not listed on the Vikings injury report entering Week 11.

Dalvin Cook ready to resume full workload after hamstring issues

Dalvin Cook gave fans a reminder of the type of playmaking ability he has when he played a limited role in Week 9 before the Minnesota Vikings had their bye, and it sounds as though the star running back is now fully healthy. On Thursday, Vikings offensive coordinator John DeFilippo said Cook has been practicing without limitations and is a “full-go.” Cook rushed for 89 yards on just 10 carries and added another four catches for 20 yards in Minnesota’s win over the Lions. The initial...

Vikings at Bears Week 11 Preview: Mack The Knife (And Other Sharp Weapons)

The Bears have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2018 season. Can the Vikings slice their way to the top of the NFC North on Sunday night?

Not gonna lie—I miss the old Chicago Bears.

For most of the past five years, the Minnesota Vikings haven’t had to worry all that much about their rivals just over 400 miles to the southeast. The Milquetoast of the Midway have brought up the caboose in the NFC North every season since Mike Zimmer took over. Chicago hasn’t won the division for...

Minnesota Vikings Power Rankings Roundup, Week 10

What sort of effect did the bye week have?

Generally, when a National Football League team spends a week not playing, their standing in the Power Rankings around the internet doesn’t change that much. This week, the Minnesota Vikings got the opportunity to rest on Sunday and watch the rest of the league, and now it’s time to see if they have risen, fallen, or stayed the same in the eyes of the pundits we use to put together our Power Rankings Roundup.

So, let’s get to it, shall...
