The New England Patriots were back on the practice fields for their third organized team activity of the offseason on Wednesday. The 90-minute session also marked the first practice open to reporters.
While organized team activities do not include pads or contact, there was still plenty to take away.

Judge re-joined the Patriots as quarterbacks coach last offseason, but his role in 2023 remains a bit of a mystery.
Joe Judge was reportedly at the heart of the recent offseason scheduling violation that led to the New England Patriots being stripped of two days of organized team activities by the NFL. Nonetheless, Bill Belichick continues to speak highly of the 41-year-old.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick on Wednesday took responsibility for the team being stripped of two organized team activity sessions following a scheduling violation involving special teams.
According to NFL.com, the violations occurred during special teams meetings overseen by offensive assistant Joe Judge at the team’s practice facility in early May. Those gatherings went longer than the NFL-mandated four-hour-per-day limit.

New England was stripped two days of organized team activities after violating rules earlier this offseason.
The New England Patriots originally scheduled 10 organized team activities as part of their offseason workout program. However, the NFL stripped them of those sessions last week as part of a scheduling violation.

Belichick was asked about Hopkins during his Wednesday press conference, but he did not offer a lot of information.
His team still has a long way to go before being ready to compete in games this fall, but Bill Belichick already is in midseason form. The New England Patriots’ head coach showed as much during his press conference ahead of Wednesdays organized team activity practice at Gillette Stadium.
