Good morning, Gang Green Nation! We’re one day away from the NFL conference championship games, and nine years away from the Jets being there. Maybe next year the Jets will be playing in a championship game. Just a few weeks away from the team beginning the process of making that a possibility in the off season.

Here are your links to the Jets this glorious Saturday in January:

NFL fans want to see the Chiefs win the Super Bowl

It is time for our weekly FanPulse check in.

Each week SB Nation sends a survey to NFL fans to get their views. Throughout the season we have chronicled how much confidence Jets fans had in the team’s direction. With the season over, that is unlikely to change much until free agency.

Today we look at how fans across the league view the four remaining teams.

When asked which team they want to see win Super Bowl LIV, a...

We have reached Conference Championship weekend in the NFL. This weekend two teams will punch their tickets to Super Bowl LIV in Miami.

In the AFC Championship Game the Tennessee Titans will visit the Kansas City Chiefs. This year’s AFC title game will be a refreshing chance of pace for Jets fans as the Patriots are not in the conference championship game for the first time in nine years. The Chiefs host the game for the second straight season and look...

AFC Roundtable: Dolphins 2019 recap with The Phinsider

Photo by Doug Murray/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

Throughout the offseason, I will be running through a series of Q&As with our fellow SB Nation blogs across the AFC. The ball gets rolling with a recap of the 2019 season, while previews of the 2020 Draft, training camp, and the 2020 season are to come later on.

We continue with a team in Florida that vastly exceeded its historically low expectations — the Miami Dolphins. Kevin Nogle of The Phinsider was able to answer a few...

Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. It seems as if the ‘will he stay, or will he go’ back and forth between the Jets and Le’Veon Bell will continue even further. After Joe Douglas assured people earlier this season of Bell’s presence on the team next year, reports are now indicating that the two sides are more than likely heading towards a breakup. It’s...

The small bonus Thomas Hennessy provides the Jets

Photo by Joshua Sarner/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

The other day I posted the totals for Jets special teams tackles in 2019.

One thing that jumped out at me was that long snapper Thomas Hennessy had 4 tackles in punt coverage. A long snapper isn’t really put on the field to make tackles so that seemed pretty high. Still I had no context to know how many tackles the typical long snapper compiles.

Of course this is 2020 so you can find information for practically anything on the web....

Good morning, GGN! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day. Two excellent achievements were reached by members of Green and White yesterday. Jamal Adams was named to the all-NFL team by the PFWA, adding to his 1st team All-Pro selection he achieved as well. The other achievement seemed long overdue, as Winston Hill was elected to the Hall of Fame. Hill joins Joe Namath, Don Maynard, and...

Pondering the future of offensive football

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

It is one of the most famous plays in recent NFL history. Right before halftime of Super Bowl LII the Eagles scored a touchdown on a fourth down and goal play. Quarterback Nick Foles motioned out of the backfield and eventually caught a touchdown pass from tight end Trey Burton, who had played some quarterback in college. The play was one of the key moments in the Eagles’ upset win over the Patriots.

Lately I have started to wonder whether we will...

Jets Podcast: Sophomore Review

Photo by Gregory Fisher/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

On a podcast last week we evaluated the Jets rookie class of 2019. Today we step back a year to look at how the second year went for the 2018 Draft class.

In some ways the second year is more important than the first. Rookies rarely produce meaningful contributions. Expectations for first year players are frequently not aligned with reality.

The biggest improvement in the careers of many players occurs between their first and second...

Bringing your daily links to the NFL’s New York Jets

Good morning, Gang Green Nation! I hope you’re all having a great start to the day! Two great players in the NFL retired yesterday, one of which was quite a surprise. The first was Chargers’ TE Antonio Gates, while the other was Carolina Panthers’ LB Luke Kuechly. While Gates seemed to be fighting father time for years, Luke Kuechly was only 28 years old when he announced it yesterday. And...

The New York Jets First Pick in the 2021 NFL Draft is Creed Humphrey Center, Oklahoma

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Size, power, quickness and intelligence

Creed Humphrey announced that he is returning to school and will not be entering the 2020 NFL Draft even though he had a good chance to be selected in the first round. Actually Creed has two years of eligibility left so there is no guarantee he will be in the Draft pool in 2021 either.

Creed Humphrey is sort of a legend in in Oklahoma. He was always a big kid, and when you are from Shawnee High School in the middle...

Jets podcast: Looking at potential cap cuts

Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

As we approach the new league year, the Jets will have several important decisions to make. Among these decisions are whether to keep or cut a handful of players.

The Jets have less projected salary cap space than they did a year ago and roughly as many needs. Jettisoning a few contracts can increase the team’s spending power.

On today’s podcast we examine potential Jets cap cuts. Some of the cuts will be fairly obvious. Trumaine Johnson comes to mind (in...
