Buccaneers 20 Titans 14 recap

So the Titans fell to 0-2 on the preseason, but I am still encouraged by what I have seen so far. The Titans first team offense looked good again tonight. They got a touchdown on their second drive that featured a couple of nice catch and runs from Dion Lewis before Taywan Taylor took a screen pass 47 yards to the house. Taylor was the start of the game catching 4 passes for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns. Marcus Mariota finished the night 4 of 7 for 80 yards and the aforementioned touchdown...

What to watch for during Titans-Buccaneers

Preseason game number two should feature the debut of Corey Davis.

The Titans are back in preseason action tonight as they host the Buccaneers at Nissan Stadium following a couple joint practices during the week. As always, the primary objective is to get out of the game with no major injuries, but here are a few other storylines to keep an eye on during the game.

Preseason Enemy Profile: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A familiar foe comes to Nashville tomorrow to face the Titans.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the other quarterback needy team in the 2015 NFL Draft, selected Jameis Winston first overall in that year’s draft, and since then he and Marcus Mariota have been compared nonstop. Now that Winston is missing the first three games of the season to suspension for groping an Uber driver, Ryan Fitzpatrick will start the first three games of the season.

With that in mind, we’re going to do things a...

Where does Rishard Matthews fit in to the Titans offense when he comes back?

The biggest mystery left on the roster is where the top receiver for the past two seasons fits in. While the media and fan spotlight remains fixated on Corey Davis — and rightfully so — but there is a bit of a mystery forming around where Rishard Matthews will fit in to the receiver rotation once he returns from injury. Matthews has led all Titans wide receivers in targets, yards, and touchdowns for two straight seasons so the assumption was always that he would start opposite Davis in...

Titans vs. Buccaneers preseason game #2 nuts and bolts

The Titans take on the Buccaneers in game 2 of the 2018 NFL preseason.

This should be an interesting game. These 2 teams will be really familiar with each other after spending two days this week practicing against each other. The practices were pretty clean without any big fights. The game, however, could end up being a little bit chippy.

We should see more from the starting offense and defense in this game. There haven’t been any indications on how much yet, but I would guess they both...

Locked on Titans with Rhett Bryan

Last night we were joined on Locked on Titans by the very talented Rhett Bryan of Titans Radio. He talked about the 2 days of joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and what it is like to watch practice with Dave McGinnis. You can listen to the show here. One note, we did have a little bit of an audio issue with Rhett at the beginning, but it got much better as the show progressed. You can follow Rhett on Twitter here.

As always, we would love for you to subscribe to the podcast on...

Titans Links: Dos Backflips

Adoree Jackson had two interceptions yesterday in practice and did 2 backflips in celebration. I think Jackson, with Kerry Coombs as his head coach is primed for a huge year in becoming one of the best CBs in the NFL.

Jim Wyatt has some observations from Thursday’s practice including a bit about Jonnu Smith looking good both blocking and in the pass game.

Dion Lewis says the Patriots didn’t believe in him enough to bring him back. The Titans did believe in him, and I can’t wait to...

Delanie Walker leaves Titans Buccaneers joint practice early

Delanie Walker was unable to finish the Titans day 2 practice with the Buccaneers. According to the reporters on hand, Walker was injured after making a nice catch on a ball thrown by Marcus Mariota. He walked gingerly to the locker room with a trainer and didn’t come back out. It was reportedly his toe that was injured.

The media asked Mike Vrabel about Delanie’s injury after practice and at first he said he would let people know, but then he circled back and said that he wouldn’t- no...

Corey Levin earns high praise from Mike Vrabel

The second year center/guard got on the radar in Green Bay.

Corey Levin was the Titans best offensive player last Thursday in Green Bay according to Pro Football Focus. In fact, Levin graded out as PFF’s top center overall from Preseason Week 1.

Who are your top five Tennessee Titans players of all time?

There’s not much else I can say before I get my own list started. The Titans are a team that have had some of my favorite players wear the Navy and Columbia blues. My list only concerns those who played in the Music City, so Oilers don’t count, but they can for you. 5. Let’s find out who Corey Davis is before saying he needs to be Mike Evans

So yesterday Mike Evans looked like the stud receiver that he is in practice and all of a sudden everyone is talking about Corey Davis again. People are talking about how Davis isn’t as good as he should be after being the #5 pick or how he needs to pretty much just quit practicing for the Titans and go follow Evans around on the practice field (OK, no one really said that).

Here’s the thing, Corey Davis just needs to be Corey Davis. He has done nothing but produce when he has been...

Dion Lewis: Patriots didn’t think I was good enough

Running back Dion Lewis signed a four-year, $20 million contract with the Titans this offseason, but he vows he won’t be a player who stops working hard after landing a deal. Lewis said he’s always had a chip on his shoulder and “that’s not going to change just because I got a contract.” Lewis said [more]
