Monday Morning Texas Rangers Update

The latest news and notes on the back-to-back American League West Champion Texas Rangers

Good morning. The Rangers finished their ten game road trip with a record of 5-5. A .500 road trip is about what you should hope for even for a good team. Win the home series, split the road series, and such.

So why did that road trip still feel kind of bad? Probably because all five of the losses came consecutively and the Rangers won two of the three series but still only played .500 ball thanks to a...

Darvish would strengthen any contender

If the Rangers make Yu Darvish available, where might he end up? There's no shortage of potential suitors, given how dominant he's been over his career. From teams fighting to stay in the race to clubs that have it all wrapped up, every contender will be interested.

48-50 — The Rangers refuse to make things easy for anyone

Rangers 6, Rays 5

So after a sweep in Baltimore that had Rangers fans acting like the Duke Brothers, clamoring to Sell! Sell! Sell!, Texas takes three straight one run games in Tampa to get back within 2.5 games of the Wild Card race, and complicate the decisions Jon Daniels has to make.

Another awful outing from Tyson Ross, but the bullpen, led but the redoubtable Tony Barnette, kept things close, setting the stage for a Rougned Odor two run game tying home run and a Carlos Gomez game...

Robinson Chirinos leaves game with ankle injury

Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos left todays game with a sprained ankle

Texas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos suffered a sprained ankle on a play at home today against the Tampa Bay Rays. Although Chirinos was able to stay in for the rest of the inning, he was removed for a pinch hitter in the next half inning and taken for x-Rays, which were negative.

We shall wait and see what the prognosis for Chirinos is, but even if he is just day to day, it seems likely the Rangers will want Brett...

The Texas Rangers look to complete the sweep and get to .500 on their road trip today against the Tampa Bay Rays, and Jeff Banister is opting to (mostly) go with the same lineup as he’s used in the first two games, but with Robinson Chirinos catching the day game after the night game instead of Jonathan Lucroy.

47-50 - Circus of Value: Rangers benefit from comedy of errors

Down 3-1, Texas scored three sixth inning unearned runs in 4-3 come-from-behind win

If the Rangers trade Yu Darvish, and they can’t re-sign him, man they should look into bringing Chris Archer to Arlington.

Not only is Archer charismatic, conscientious, and a future broadcasting star, he’s also a damn good pitcher.

Archer on this evening got the Yu Darvish treatment of allowing just one earned run while striking out 11 Rangers on just four hits and a walk but was pinned with the loss...

Yu Darvish Trade Rumors: Rangers Asking Teams for Potential Packages

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported Friday that the Texas Rangers are dangling starting pitcher Yu Darvish to see what kind of package he could potentially net in a trade.

Passan added that the Rangers aren't yet committed to trading Darvish, but the feeling around the league is that their struggles this season could prompt them to.
