Pablo Reyes was DFA’d by the Red Sox. Making this the perfect time to celebrate his. . . pitching.
Welcome back to another edition of The Anatomy of An Inning. My name is Jacob Roy, and I pretend to know pitching better than the pitchers themselves. If you’re new here or need a reminder of what this is all about, I take an inning from the previous week or so and break it down, one pitch at a time. Each pitch should have a purpose, I’m looking...
In recent years, the Boston Red Sox have opted for a cautious approach, avoiding major roster upheavals while focusing on securing key players for the long term.

The Red Sox are somehow a winning baseball team through the first month of the season. Let’s celebrate with the first of our monthly player power rankings.
How are they doing this? After the first 29 games of the season, the Red Sox have lost their starting shortstop, first baseman, and three key members of the starting rotation to the IL, including Opening Day starter Brayan Bello. Add in scattered injuries to relievers and backup...
Red Sox minor-league reliever Robert Kwiatkowski earned the winning decision in his debut for Triple-A Worcester on Sunday afternoon. Kwiatkowski, who was promoted from Double-A Portland earlier Sunday morning, made his first appearance for the WooSox in the third inning of their series finale against the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field.
Red Sox corner infield prospect Blaze Jordan has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week of April 22-28, Minor League Baseball announced on Monday.

Triston Casas is going to be the IL for a while, so in the meantime we plug the hole with a veteran.
Who is he and where did he come from? He’s Garrett Cooper. We heard his name around the rumor mill this past winter, but following Triston Casas’ relegation to the 60-day IL with a ribcage tear (and the recognition that the timetable to return may be some amount longer than that) the Red Sox acquired Cooper from the Cubs. Previous to that, he...

The roster is getting a makeover, and it may not look the way you expect.
A flurry of roster moves are ongoing with the Red Sox this week, spurred by injuries, a rehab assignment, and the general evolution of the roster.
We can start with what’s already happened: Over the weekend, the Red Sox acquired first baseman Garrett Cooper from the Cubs for cash.
The Chicago Cubs have traded Garrett Cooper to the Boston Red Sox per sources.
— Craig...The Boston Red Sox added first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper to the major league roster and designated utility player Pablo Reyes for assignment on Monday.
The third baseman has been with the Sox dating back to last season but is out to a brutal start at the plate.
The Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Worcester took on the Toledo Mud Hens dropping four of their six games. Their Double-A affiliate took on the Hartford Yard Goats winning only two of their six games.
The Chicago Cubs came to play the Boston Red Sox over the weekend, and they left with a trade agreement. The Red Sox traded for recently DFA’d Garrett Cooper to help their first base situation.
One thing that’s been a constant for the Boston Red Sox this season is stellar starting pitching performances. Much has been made of pitching coach Andrew Bailey‘s ability to take the entire rotation and elevate their stuff to produce better results.

Four hits and a walk as his rehab wraps up.
Happy Monday! Each of the Red Sox affiliates (besides the Drive) were on the road this week and met mixed results; I’m sure none of them will hate going home from Sunday’s games. Sunday was more of the same: rough luck combined with some rough play.
Worcester, Game 1: W, 8-5 (BOX SCORE)In this finale in Toledo against the Mud Hens (Tigers Triple-A), the WooSox overcame having to resort to a bullpen game...

Fly the B not the W

A 17-0 beat down on Saturday was one hell...
Looking to get past an ugly loss on Saturday, the Chicago Cubs nearly capped off an impressive comeback on Sunday against the Boston Red Sox. Unfortunately, their efforts fell short as the Red Sox walked it off with ease thanks to a dropped ball from defensive stalwart Dansby Swanson in the ninth inning.
Tyler O'Neill hit a walk-off bloop single into shallow left field to score Jarren Duran in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago Cubs 5-4 on Sunday night.

Houck does what he does, the bullpen does what it does, and O’Neill closes out a great weekend of baseball!
After clobbering the Cubs Saturday afternoon, the Red Sox face a marquis matchup on Sunday Night Baseball. Would the bright lights be too much for this squad or would they throw on the shades and keep cool?
Key Moments B1/B3: Wong WongI wrote earlier in the season about feeling bad for Wong and the position he’s in with McGuire and Teel. He’s...
