Go Reds!
Chase Petty returns to the mound for the second start of his big league career today, and he’ll do so with hopes that this one looks decidedly less McCullers-y than the first.
The Cincinnati Reds, believe it or not, could take home a series victory with a win today despite having lost the first game of the series, something that happens about as often as humankind walks on the surface of the moon.
First pitch of the Sunday finale will be...

Go...Reds?
The Cincinnati Reds, or what’s left of them, look to eschew their bad juju of the last week and actually win a baseball game. Their chance on Saturday pits them against the Houston Astros in the city where the Astrodome once ruled.
Brady Singer will start opposite the newly roboticized version of Lance McCullers, Jr.
First pitch is set for 7:10 PM ET. Lineups below.

Who’s hurt? You hurt? You’re probably hurt.
You probably thought the Friday night trade that brought Connor Joe to the Cincinnati Reds from the San Diego Padres was a ‘depth’ move.
WELCOME TO THE DEEP, MY FRIEND!
With Austin Hays ‘back’ but still kind of DH-ing, Spencer Steer somewhat the 1B default now (despite his shoulder still not being 100%), Tyler Callihan’s arm broken, and the otherwise robust infield...
The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Jake Fraley on the injured list with left-calf tenderness and activated newly acquired outfielder/first baseman Connor Joe from the IL.

The Reds moved Tyler Callihan to the 60-day IL to make room.
Old heads (and Getty photo archives) will remember the Connor Joe Era of Cincinnati Reds history. Back in December of 2018, the Reds selected Joe in the Rule 5 Draft, plucking him from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and bringing him in to camp in Goodyear in search of a big league job.
That didn’t pan out, unfortunately. The Reds traded his rights to the San Francisco Giants prior to the...

The Cincinnati Reds formally placed Hunter Greene on the IL today, but they welcomed back Austin Hays in the process.
Similarly, they brought back both Will Benson and Chase Petty while shipping underperforming outfielders Blake Dunn and Jacob Hurtubise back to AAA Louisville.
That’s the kind of lineup shuffle that, in theory, would help turn this moribund offense into something more substantial. Maybe?
Anyway, Nick Martinez will toe the rubber tonight...
The Cincinnati Reds have been active today before their series opener with the Astros. Announcing six roster moves ahead of the game tonight. The Reds have shipped two down to Louisville.
A three-game set in Space City is next on the docket.
It’s not hard to quantify just how frustrating the most recent series between the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves was (from the Reds perspective).
They were shut out once. Twice, they lost games in extra innings - once on a defensive brain fart, once after having taken a late two-run lead that evaporated in an instant. They lost their ace to a groin injury, lost their 3B (who was 3B because those ahead of him were injured)...

They’re stacking up!
Hunter Greene could not have looked any better on Wednesday night in Atlanta. He pumped in 101 mph heat while painting all corners of the zone, issued nary a walk, and struck out six Atlanta Braves in just 3.0 IP of work on the night.
Six of the nine outs he recorded came via strikeout. That he only recorded nine outs, though, could not have been much worse.
Greene exited early with what’s been tabbed as a groin injury, and as Mark...
Reds pitcher Hunter Greene has been excellent thus far in 2025 — but he’s been slowed down by an injury. Greene exited the Reds’ game on the 7th, one of several bits of news.
Two pitchers looking for bounce-back starts will face off Thursday when the Atlanta Braves complete their homestand with the finale of their four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds.
TJ Friedl hit a pair of home runs to help the visiting Cincinnati Reds end a four-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.
Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene was removed from Wednesday night's game against the host Atlanta Braves in the bottom of the fourth inning after suffering a right groin injury.

Dammit
The hits just keep coming for the Cincinnati Reds, but not the ones that we would like. With the Reds up 3-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning, Hunter Greene was cruising just as he has all season. Having allowed only 2 hits and already accumulating 6 strikeouts across his 3 innings, the Reds were seemingly well on their way to victory. That was, until Greene felt something awkward in his leg while throwing a warm-up pitch before the bottom of the 4th....

In a corresponding move, the club recalled outfielder Rece Hinds from Triple-A Louisville.
The Reds announced that infielder Noelvi Marte has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 5, due to a left oblique strain.
The Reds have lost four straight game after losing last night 2-1 to the Braves. Today the Reds have announced two roster moves as they prepare to take on the Braves in the series finale.
