Another down week for the Guards still had plenty of positive moments.
As we enter the month of June, there are plenty of reasons to be happy with this Cleveland Guardians team. Holding the second-place spot in the division is just one of them.
It’s Fryday AgainThe Guardians announced multiple roster moves on Saturday that included the not-so-positive placement of Lane Thomas back on the 10-day IL. However, in another move, they announced the return of DH/IF David Fry. On...

Columbus Clippers 3, Rochester Red Wings 4Box Score · Clippers fall to 22-32
The skid of the Columbus Clippers continued on Sunday as they dropped their seventh consecutive game.
They lost despite the best efforts of C.J. Kayfus, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, raising his OPS to .955. Brayan Rocchio also reached base safely twice, doubling and walking while Milan Tolentino went 1-for-3 with a walk.
In his first...

News and Notes for Monday, June 2nd, 2025
The Guardians have an off-day before opening a three-game series in New York against the Yankees. So, the next three days are days I will be pretending the Guardians don’t exist as I hate when they play the Yankees.
Watching a little of Dodgers-Yankees this weekend, I was reminded how deep my Yankee hate goes. I’d 100% percent prefer the Dodgers to beat them every time. My five teams I least want to win the...
Gavin Williams allowed just one hit in 6 2/3 innings and Jose Ramirez hit a home run for the second straight game to lift the host Cleveland Guardians to a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

With immediate regret
The Guardians found a way to beat the Angels today and win the weekend series, 4-2
This will be an abbreviated column today as my time is limited but here are some takeaways:
-Williams stayed away from heavy four-seam usage, located his breaking ball well and had his best start of the season. The only runs he surrendered were while Gaddis was pitching and because of a literal hole tearing open in Gabriel Arias's glove.
-Nolan...

A Lost Scouting Report on Alfonsin Rosario
The Old Scout’s Take A Lost Scouting Report on Alfonsin Rosario — by Mario CrescibeneI found myself sitting at the counter of Michael’s Diner at Shaker Square after the last game against the Dodgers. After such a glorious come-from-behind win, I needed a place to breathe and come back down to earth.
I always liked coming to this particular diner. It somehow reminded me of that famous Edward Hopper painting, “Nighthawks”. With the...

ACL Guardians 6, ACL Rangers 0Box Score · Guardians improve to 11-11
I don’t often start these minor league recaps with the ACL Guardians game, but this was a big one as it featured the return to the mound of Guardians star Shane Bieber, the pro debut of a top pitching prospect, plus three rehab appearances from top position player prospects.
Let’s start with Bieber, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery. He pitched...

The Guardians staged a big comeback yesterday after Slade Cecconi’s first hiccup as a starter here and beat the Angels 7-5. Zach has your recap here.
Nic Enright had a good outing (shocking at least one commenter here who seemed to be suggesting that Enright should have retired after his debut segment?). Big for the Guardians as Andrew Walters will be out for a while with a lat strain. It could...
The return of Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout has loomed large over the first two games of their series against the Guardians in Cleveland. Next could be the comeback of Cleveland's All-Star designated hitter David Fry, who is expected to make his season debut Sunday.

It was a win the Guardians badly needed
The Guardians did the impossible and took down the Angels today after trailing 3-0 early. This was a win that I felt like the Guardians really needed, as the Angels seem to have their number. It was a huge game for Gabriel Arias, as he went 2-4 with the game winning hit that was a 2 RBI double in the bottom of the 7th that was hit 110 mph off the bat. Let’s hope today was the start of him coming out of the slump that...
Gabriel Arias had a two-run, go-ahead double in the seventh inning as the Cleveland Guardians rallied from four runs down and held on for a 7-5 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Angels on Saturday afternoon.

He’ll return strictly as a designated hitter, as he still isn’t able to throw in the wake of his surgery.
The Cleveland Guardians activated designated hitter David Fry from the 60-day injured list and added him to the roster prior to Saturday's game against the visiting Los Angeles Angels.

News and Notes for Saturday, May 11th, 2025
Last night was rough. The Guardians lost to the Angels 4-1 and seemingly lost reliever Andrew Walters for a significant period of time with an arm injury. Jose Ramirez lost his hitting streak, also.
There were positives, however. I was at the game and the crowd was large and lively. Luis Ortiz was good, again. And, it’s one game. Time to turn it around tonight.
If you’d like to read Nick’s recap, it’s...

Columbus Clippers (22-30) - AAABox Score
COL 9 - ROC 10
The Columbus Clippers fell in the bottom of the ninth to the Rochester Red Wings after Franco Aleman gave up 3 runs, earning his first loss of the season. Petey Halpin went 3-for-5 with 3 runs. C.J. Kayfus was originally not in the line up and went 0-for-2 after pinch hitting for first baseman Kyle Datres. Chase DeLauter want 1-for-4 with an RBI and a walk. Johnathan Rodríguez went...

Quite a run
While Jose Ramirez extended his on-base streak with a walk today, he was not able to solve Jose Soriano and his 21-game hitting streak came to an end.
Jose is so special; we can never take too much time appreciating him. So, if you'd like to relive the hits he collected over the past month, you can do so with ad-free clips below.

Offense goes quiet as Soriano and the Angels top the Guards in the Opener.
Well.
Infuriating, to say the least. The Guardians had no shortage of scoring opportunities but squandered almost all of them. Whether via 3 (THREE) GIDPs, or an inability to get a 2-out hit with a runner (or runners) on, the Guardians looked hapless against Soriano and the Angels tonight. Jones broke the streak in the 9th with a nice 2-out single. Extremely frustrating to keep...
