Jones was No. 11 a year ago
The New York Giants’ primary signal caller, Daniel Jones, ranked 23rd overall on Chris Simms’ annual Top 40 QB List. Last year on the NBC Sports platform, Simms ranked Jones 11th overall. Jones’ injury-plagued 2023 season dropped him 12 spots on Simms’ list. Jones ranked just ahead of DeShaun Watson of the Cleveland Browns.
Here are Simms’ rankings of Jones heading into each of the previous four seasons:

Things have changes somewhat, at least in terms of the highest-paid players at a variety of positions
Positional value is a real thing in the NFL. Teams value some positions more than others, which is a big part of the reason why Saquon Barkley, a running back, is no longer a member of the New York Giants.
In what order, though, do NFL teams rank, or value positions? Some work in The Athletic’s ‘Scoop City Newsletter’, offers some...
It has been suggested that 2023 undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito could win the team's primary backup quarterback job over Drew Lock this summer.

Kickoff return might be his best, or only, chance
If undrafted rookie wide receiver Ayir Asante is going to stick with the New York Giants, perhaps the league’s revised kickoff rules will be a big part of the reason.
Let’s look at Asante as we continue our player-by-player profiles of the Giants’ 90-man roster.

Giants continuing to seek roster depth
The major part of NFL free agency is long over, but the New York Giants are continuing to work to upgrade the margins of their roster. The Giants are reportedly hosting journeyman defensive back Joshua Kalu for a visit/workout to potentially add depth and competition in the secondary.
Kalu’s name should be familiar to Giants fans. He signed with the Giants as a free agent in 2021. Kalu tore a...

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has been a lightning rod for criticism ever since signing a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the club last offseason.
Former safety Tony Jefferson is the latest to make a comeback at the NFL after his last stint playing in the league was 2022. It will be interesting to see if teams are interested in signing the long-time pro the closer we get to training camp, as he wasn’t on a team last year.

Slayton had been staying away
Darius Slayton was in attendance for New York Giants voluntary workouts on Tuesday. The on-field practice was apparently the first time Slayton has joined the team for any of this spring’s voluntary workouts.
Several of the photos released by the team from Tuesday’s OTA, the fourth of 10 scheduled on-field practices, were of Slayton catching passes or running drills.

Thomas has allowed just seven sacks over the past two seasons
In the latest round of player rankings, Zoltán Buday of Pro Football Focus ranked the top 32 offensive tackles for 2024.
Representing the New York Giants is Andrew Thomas, who comes in 11th on the list.
Buday writes:
Another player whose 2023 season was impacted by injuries, Thomas was unable to replicate his terrific 2022 season as he played a career-low 576 snaps last year. However, his...
The New York Giants have built a formidable defensive front this offseason, but it’s not without its weaknesses. On Big Blue’s defensive line is a gap that needs to be filled.

The New York Giants have revamped their pass rush this off-season, making a significant move by trading for Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers and immediately securing him with a five-year contract.
It has been said that Lock hasn't blown anybody away with his performances in springtime practices.
The New York Giants are tight on salary cap space after spending money throughout an incredibly productive offseason. General manager Joe Schoen utilized the salary cap well, adding talent to the lineup on both sides of the ball in an effort to get his team to bounce back from a disappointing 6-11 record last season.
Jordan Schultz of B/R reports that former Ravens S Tony Jefferson is coming out of retirement and plans to play in 2024. According to Schultz, Jefferson has kept in shape and has been training with the intention of returning to the NFL again.
