Starters Ivan Nova and Patrick Corbin went pitch for pitch Friday night, but it was costly defensive errors and a 13th inning base hit that decided the game, with the Diamondbacks emerging victorious 2-1.

Nova went eight shutout innings, working around three hits while not walking a batter. He struck out eight, threw 18 first pitch strikes to his 27 batters faced and retired 13 on three pitches or less. He retired the final 12 batters he faced- five via punchout.
