Thursday BP: The Giants are actually hitting home runs this year

What a fun thing to happen.

Hello and happy Thursday.

Darin Ruf’s comical two-run home run on Wednesday propelled the San Francisco Giants to a game and series victory over the San Diego Padres.

It also gave the Giants 11 home runs on the year (all but two of which have been of the solo variety). Here’s how many homers the Giants have hit after five games in the past five years:

2021: 11
2020: 6
2019: 3
2018: 8
2017: 7
