Walmart will stop providing single-use plastic and paper bags in New York and Colorado in January, accelerating its sustainability push – but creating a new task for customers.

The single-use bag policy will go into effect on New Year's Day in Colorado and Jan. 18 in New York. Walmart has been touting this effort since at least 2020, collaborating with both Target and CVS. Customers can buy reusable bags at Walmart from 74 cents to $3.98, depending on the size and function.
