Eight members of the same family, including five children, were discovered shot dead in their home by police officers in a rural Utah town on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials in Enoch City, 245 miles south of Salt Lake City, confirmed the grim discovery in a press release issued on Wednesday night, clarifying that the police did not believe there was an ongoing threat to the public.
