Bela Lugosi never sought to be a horror actor, but Hollywood in the 1930s wasn't kind. Lugosi began acting professionally at the age of 20, appearing in several traveling operetta productions in his native Hungary. After a stint in the army, Lugosi began a career in film acting in the 1910s under the stage name Arisztid Olt, one of the cooler stage names one might encounter, and most assuredly the name of a Goth band somewhere in the world.
