A few days after the ouster of Ford CEO Mark Fields, replaced by Jim Hackett, the automaker has announced a series of upper level promotions to fill in some gaps.

Notably, Raj Nair, 52, the head of global product development and chief technical officer, continues his rise within the company, as he will oversee the North American business unit, a position that has often led to the top job. Fields was president of The Americas before becoming chief operating officer and then CEO.
